HOW WE CAN HELP YOU

Do you have a dog who vocalises or destroys the house when they are left alone? Or a fearful dog who struggles to cope with our human world? Have you been too busy to train your faithful companion as much as you would have liked? Or discovered the mischievous antics of your cute puppy have become too much to handle?

Don’t worry - we are here to help!

Your trainer, Pamela, is highly qualified to support you and your dog(s) with your training and behaviour challenges. Based near Banbury in North Oxfordshire, she is able to provide support to remote clients using online tools in addition to helping those in her local area.

Pamela specialises in Separation Anxiety, one of only a small number of UK based trainers holding the CSAT (Certificate of Separation Anxiety Training) following completion of her studies with Malena DeMartini. This advanced qualification has given her the specialist knowledge and expertise to help dogs suffering from this distressing condition, along with much needed support to worried guardians.

OUR Services

SEPARATION ANXIETY

If your dog is suffering from Separation Anxiety, you will know how distressing it is for both dog and human(s). But if you feel there is no way you can regain your freedom to enjoy life at the same time as your dog being happy to spend time alone, there is support available from Pamela. She holds a specialist qualification in Separation Anxiety training, and would love to use her expertise in this area to help you achieve your goals.

Puppy training AND PRIVATE CLASSES

If you have recently acquired a new puppy then we can help you set them up for a lifetime of success living in our human world. Providing them with good experiences at an early age and training basic behaviours will give them the skills needed to grow into well-adjusted companions and help prevent behaviour problems from occurring at a later stage.

Individual training or private classes for 2-4 puppies can be provided.

DOG training

Whether you are looking for help with routine obedience training of your dog(s), addressing problem behaviours, or setting them up to be more comfortable with veterinary care, we can help by providing you with up to date information and evidence-based training plans that are grounded in science and are also ethical, humane and effective.

ANXIOUS OR FEARFUL DOGS

If you have an anxious or fearful dog who seems to be a square peg in a round hole, unable to cope with our busy human lifestyles, we understand how exhausting and isolating it can be. By helping you to go at the dog’s pace and providing training plans that break behaviours down into small steps, we can give them the best chance for future success and happiness.

REMOTE SERVICES

Within our modern world, options for digital communication are becoming easier all the time, so it is not always necessary to meet in person to obtain effective help and support. Remote consultations can be conducted via telephone or a video conferencing solution, and we will be happy to consider requests based on your individual requirements.

It all started when…

Pamela’s rescue dog Buster struggled to cope with the challenges of daily life when he arrived in 2011, and during her long mission to help him thrive she was inspired to continue her education in training, behaviour and counselling at the Academy for Dog Trainers.

Pamela is committed to providing her clients with the most up to date information and using evidence-based practices that are grounded in science and are also ethical, humane and effective. She is keen to help dog owners and guardians understand why their canine friends may be struggling to fit in with our human way of life, especially those experiencing anxiety or fear, and how to help give puppies the best start for future success.

philosophy

aversive free philosophy

Pamela follows a code of conduct that does not include aversive methods or equipment, and therefore will not use pain, fear, startle, shock, intimidation, choke or similar methods to motivate your dog. There is ample evidence in the scientific literature that training, handling and behaviour modification can be accomplished without the use of these methods, which have potential side effects such as fear.

What OUR clients have to say

Jenny & Family

Pamela has made a huge difference to our busy, family life. Our pet Ted had such a fear of other dogs that walking him had become a chore. Pamela has put the enjoyment back into owning a dog. Her concise and easy to follow advice has given us the confidence and ability to successfully walk him around other dogs again. We found the email communication really helpful, especially Ted’s homework. Pamela is always there if I have a question. I would highly recommend Pamela to anybody wanting help with their canine companion!

WALTER & LILY

Working with Pamela has been a joy. She has been attentive and flexible when working with our little sausage dog, Azuki, who suffered with Separation Anxiety.

We initially tried to treat Azuki's issue ourselves but there is no replacement for a certified trainer. She provided useful information to our vet who was happy to prescribe Azuki appropriate medication to support the training process. With the slow and steady training plan in place, we have seen Azuki's general confidence and Separation Anxiety related issues improve considerably. The plan is easy to follow, it keeps us all accountable, and the weekly reassessments were great to talk to Pamela about any questions we had that week, and to see what his current level of comfortable duration was. We really appreciated having all the steps written down, as we knew that all we had to do was to follow the very specific instructions.

A few months later and Azuki has now been comfortably left for over an hour, when previously he couldn’t do more than 30 seconds! We will continue the training ourselves and can't wait to see even more improvements!

KERI & ANDY

When we reached out to Pamela we were in need of someone who could help us leave the house and have our dog, Ellie, be comfortable and settled on her own. After our initial consultation/assessment it was clear Ellie wasn't comfortable and we could only manage a few seconds outside the house before she became vocal and worked up.

Pamela eased us into the separation training process (entirely remotely), sharing spreadsheets to track progress over time and provide us with daily missions to help Ellie feel more comfortable. The spreadsheets really helped to keep us accountable with her training.

We made quick progress with Pamela and have been absolutely delighted with how comfortable Ellie is on her own. We have been able to leave her for over 3 hours now - fantastic when just 2 months ago we struggled with 10 seconds.

We always wondered if Ellie had separation anxiety or just felt left out because she wanted to be involved with whatever we were doing. Either way, the training works and is so useful whether your dog has separation anxiety or FOMO!

We 100% recommend Pamela and her separation training for dogs. She is supportive, friendly and on hand with a kind, reassuring voice.
